The Super Conducting
Undulator (SCU) team have completed the construction of a mini undulator made
up of two 300mm long, 36 pole, magnets.
By cooling the magnets directly with a
closed cycle refrigerator (CCR) to 4k, the team have successfully run the mini
SCU with a current of 340A, generating a magnetic field of 1 Tesla, for several
hours.
The next step will be to test the mini SCU with an electron beam on
CLARA at DL.
